Pleasant Daily News, Saturday, October 17,1934, Front Page Mrs. Guy Beavers Taken by Death Mrs. Guy Beavers, ofthis city died this morning at the Sunnyslope sanitarium in Ottumwa.She was 49 years old. Mrs. Beavers is survived by the husband andseveral children. The funeral will be held at once o'clock Mondayafternoon at the Cookes funeral chapel. Burial will be at Forest Homecemetery. The Mt. Pleasant Daily News, Tuesday, November 20, 1934Mrs. Guy Beavers Funeral Held Funeral services for Mrs. Guy Beaverswere held Monday afternoon at the D. L. Cookies funeral chapel withthe Rev. J. H. Nightingale conducting the rites. Mrs. G. E. King sangwith Miss Lydia Dyall accompanying at the piano. Burial was at ForestHome with the following acting as pallbearers, Homer Unzinger, CharlesWellington, Will Fenton, Harold Lyons, John Cahal, and EmmettMcDowell. -------------- Stella A., youngest daughter of W. C. and A.M. Spicer, was born July 14, 1885, near Troy, Iowa. When about 13years old she moved with her family to Davis county, near Bloomfield,where she grew to womanhood. She attended the public schools ofBloomfield and the Southern Iowa Normal, after which she taught in thecountry schools of Davis county; also one year in Woodland, Decaturcounty. On April 11, 1909, she was united in marriage to Guy Beavers.To this union were born nine children, all of whom are living: Basiland Paul, of Mt. Pleasant; Malcom, of New London; Mrs. Wesley Cooperof Salem; Merwyn, Max, Gerald, Mansil and Phyllis at home; also fourgrand-children. Besides the husband and children, who are left tomourn their loss and cherish her memory, are two brothers and twosisters, R. E. Spicer of Tuxford, Saskatchewan, Canada, Claude W.Spicer of Prince Albert, Canada; Mrs. Mary E. Kruse of Shelbrook,Saskatchewan, Canada, Mrs. D. O. Harriss of Bloomfield, Iowa, and ahost of friends and relatives. She had he happy faculty of makingfriends, who were numbered by her acquiantances. To know her was tolove her. She was a faithful wife and loving mother. She was unitedwith the Methodist church in 1908 and later transferred her membershipto the Christian church at New London. She was a conscientiouschristian and lived according to the teachings of her Savior. She verypatiently bore her suffering during her illness of several months. Shepassed away on the morning of November 17th, at Ottumwa. "DearestMother, thou hast left us, Here thy loss we deeply feel, But 'tis Godthat hath bereft us, He can all our sorrows heal." References
