Birth: Oct. 25, 1915 Minnesota, USA Death: Aug. 7, 1990 Dane County Wisconsin, USA Stanley B. Rea, age 74, died on Tuesday, August 7, 1990 in a Madison hospital. He was born on October 25, 1915 in Tracy, MN, the son of Jesse and Bertha (Morgan) Rea. Stanley enlisted in the military in February 1944 at Fort Snelling, MN and served with the tank corps in the European Theater of War in World War II. After his discharge he attended Ohio State University at Columbus. On December 2, 1950, he was united in marriage with Josephine Hoffman in Minneapolis, MN. He worked as a printer for 22 years at Madison Newspapers, Inc. and as a home construction contractor in the Sun Prairie area. He was a member of American Legion Post #333 in Sun Prairie and a lifetime member of D.A.V. He was a member of Sacred Hearts Catholic Church and Catholic Order of Foresters. Survivors include his wife, Josephine; and three children, Alfred (Joyce) Rea of San Francisco, CA, Joyce Rea of Madison, and James (Amy) Rea of Minneapolis, MN. Funeral services will be held at the Cress Funeral Home, 1310 Emerald Terrace, Sun Prairie at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 9, 1990. The Rev. Paul Swain will officiate. Burial will be in Sun Prairie Memory Gardens where military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post #333. Friends may call from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 8, 1990 at the Cress Funeral Home where there will be a Last Salute at 6:30 p.m. and a prayer service will immediately follow.
