    Dea. S. P. Witter was born in Brookfield, N. Y., Sept. 25, 1807, and died of consumption, at his home at Nile, N. Y., Nov. 15, 1882. He was baptized January, 1838, and united with the Friendship Church, by which he was ordained to the office of deacon June 23, 1861. Respected by the community, loved by his brethren, and endeared to his family, Dea. Witter closed his quiet and useful life.
