    Spurgeon E. Egolf, 72, of 23117 U.S. 20 E., died at 5:30 a.m. today at General Hospital, following an extended illness. 
    He was born Feb. 22, 1907, in Columbia City, and married Mildred I. Hertsel, June 8, 1929, in Elkhart. She survives with one son, James L., Elkhart; one sister, Mrs. Homer (Gladys) Reeg, Texas; two brothers, Cecil and Carl both of Columbia City, two grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. One son Robert E. , died June 21, 1958, in an automobile acciden
    Friends may call after 2 p.m. Friday at Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home, where services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday. The Rev. Gordon Bracker of the Bethel Brethren Church, Osceola, will officiate. Burial will be in Christian Chapel Cemetery, Merriam, Ind. 
    He was a retired tool and die maker and employed at the Machine and Tool Speciality Co., and a member of the Elkhart Moose Lodge.
