In early volumes of Bygdebok for Sauherad (2:606, 3:866), Kirkeby identifies his father as Ormar Borgarsson Hæm (making Solve the second cousin of his wife). However, in volume 4 (4:507), he identifies his father as Ormar Torleivsson Lindem[1] (making Solve the first cousin of his wife). The dates fit better for the latter.

'Ormar Torleivsson, sjå Ætta frå Lindheim, inn på Borge. Han er omtala på Klevar 1368 (DN 1 305), ser ut til å ha vore lensmann i Sandsvær kring 1400 og ennå 1411 (DN VII 354 og DN XXI 197). Ein son var visstnok Solve Ormarsson (DN VI 392 og DN XI 90), g m hustru Margareta Bjørnsd. frå Lindheim, ...'

translation: Ormar Torleivsson, see people from Lindheim, into Borge. He is mentioned at Klevar 1368 (DN 1 305), appears to have been sheriff in Sandsvær area in 1400 and still in 1411 (DN VII 354 and DN XXI 197). A son was apparently Solve Ormarsson (DN VI 392 and DN XI 90), married to wife Margareta Bjørnsdatter from Lindheim.

"Hustru Margareta på Lindheim gav 1 laupsland i Gjestrud" (i Heddal til Nes kyrkje). Det er truleg at Solve og Margareta budde på Lindheim.'

translation: Solve Ormarsson and his wife Margareta gave 7 1/2 laupsland in Upper or Mid Hem (RB 9) to Nes church by bishop Eystein around year 1400. ... Wife Margareta of Lindheim gave 1 laupsland in Gjestrud (in Heddal to Nes church). It is likely that Solve and Margareta lived at Lindheim.

translation: The last time one hears of Solve was 1 Jun 1442. He must have been over 90 years old if one should believe the legend that he was born just after the Black Death. in 1442, he and 35 other emissaries from the common people of Norway went to a meeting in Lødøse in Båhuslen (which was then Norwegian). The 36 men made known that they were pleased that the National Council had chosen Christopher of Bavaria king. Other than that, Solve was often a member of the court, both in Telemark and in Vestfold.

Note regarding his age: At the time this volume was written, the author believed Solve Ormarsson to be the son of Ormar Borgarsson Hæm, born shortly after Ormar died in the Black Death in 1350. In the 4th volume, the author suggested that Solve Ormarsson was the son of Ormar Torleivsson, which puts his birth year later than 1350.

  4. Birth year estimated based on estimated birth years of his wife and children, and the fact that he was an emissary in 1442.
