ohn Price, my direct ancestor, is first found in Abstracts of Virginia's Northern Neck Warrants and Surveys by Peggy Shomo Joyner as a resident of the Hawksbill area in what was then Frederick County. These deed records show his interactions with probable relatives Mungo Price, Ann Price Short Breeden (Breeding), Zachariah Price and Edward Price and Solomon Ryan. That this is the correct John Price is verified by the Revolutionary War Pension Applications of two sons... Thomas Price born 22 April 1750 in Frederick County and Sampson Price born 24 June 1761 in Culpeper County. Thomas declared his family resided in Frederick County from the time he was born until after the Revolutionary War with the exception of six years. In 1772 the area became Dunmore County and then Shenandoah County in 1778. During the six year period the family residence was in Culpeper County as indicated by Sampson Price. The absence from Frederick County was very likely due to the French and Indian War from 1756 to 1763.

Solomon Ryan resided on Hawksbill Creek between the land of Samuel Short and Edward Price. He was a witness to the will of John Price, Sr. written in 1780. Could he be a brother-in-law? His survey appears under assignee Philip Prince.
