Solomon was probably born before 1730. He is named as a chain carrier on a land survey for William McGee in Edgecombe County, North Carolina in 1749. Solomon McGee purchased 100 acres of land on the North Side of Fishing Creek in Edgecombe County, North Carolina from Thomas Brewer on 3 Nov 1758. He witnessed a deed for Michael McGee on 14 Aug 1760. Solomon sold his land on Fishing Creek in Edgecombe County, North Carolina to Michael Dorman on 6 Feb 1762. This deed was witnessed by John Magee.

Solomon received a land patent in Duplin County, North Carolina on 22 Dec 1768. He is found on the 1783 tax list for Duplin County, on the 1784 tax list for Sampson County, and on the 1790 U.S. Census for Sampson County, North Carolina. According to the court records of Sampson County, North Carolina, Solomon Magee, an infirm man, was exempted from paying a poll tax in 1789.
