"Entered a horse of Solomon Mackfarlin of Plympton August the thirteenth, one thousand seven hundred and twenty-eigh.. His artificial marks are an L out of the left ear on the foreside thereof, and the right ear hath a half penny cut out of the the backside of said ear, and his natural marks are: he was of dark brown and, a white star in his forhead, and a long tail and mane."
