Family tree▼ Facts and Events
Solomon Day was baptised on 17th November 1784 at Hitchin in Hertfordshire, son of William and Judith Day. On 6th October 1808, Solomon married Ann Upchurch at Offley, just west of Hitchin. They returned to Hitchin after their marriage, where they had a daughter called Phoebe baptised in 1811. Sadly she died as a baby later that year. In 1814 they had another daughter, also called Phoebe. At this time Solomon was described as a labourer and the family was living on Back Street, on the east side of the town of Hitchin. Ann died in 1819. She was said to be 34 years old. Just over a year later, Solomon married again. His second wife was a widow called Frances Stokes, formerly Everitt. They do not appear to have had any more children. They lived at Walsworth, a hamlet to the north-east of Hitchin. Solomon died at the age of 39, being buried at Hitchin on 12th September 1824. Frances outlived him by nearly twelve years and remarried two years after Solomon's death. References
