    Death of S. C. Burdick

The not unexpected death of Mr. Solomon C. Burdick occured on Saturday morning. He was nearly 80 years old and had been failing for a long time, and early Saturday morning be quietly passed away.

Mr. Burdick was born in Rhode Island in 1811. He came West in 1843 and settled in Walworth county, where for 48 years his home has been. He was married September 1 1831—nearly 60 years ago—and the aged companion of his long life survives him as do six children, three sons and three daughters, C. H. Burdich, of the News, being one of the number. During his life he held several offices in the town of Lyons and for a long series of years he was chairman of the town of Linn. He was a kindly, generous man, without an enemy in the world and with a host of friends. He followed the trade of cabinet maker here for many years, until declining health compelled him to give up work. His funeral was held on Sunday afternoon, Rev. Holbrook officiating, the remains being buried in the new cemetery.
