Mr. Simon POORTVLIET - 1009 S. Burdick St., passed away Tuesday morning Jan. 11, 1977. Mr. POORTVLIET was born Oct. 19, 1904, in Middelburg, Netherlands, son of Marinus and Johanna POORTVLIET and had been a residence of Kalamazoo for the past 19 years. He was a member of the First Reformed Church and prior to his retirement, was employed at the Y.M.C.A. for 10 years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Janna in April of 1961. Surviving are one son and 2 daughters, Marinus John of the Netherlands, Miss Maria Johanna of the home address, Mrs. Harry L. (Joan Simone) ROGGE of Kalamazoo; 4 grandchildren; one sister and 4 brothers, Mrs. Jacomina N. VANDER STEEN, Bartel, Gerardus, Cornelis and Johannes, all of the Netherlands; several nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held Firday at 1 o'clock at the Langeland Chapel, 622 S. Burdick, with Rev. Mr. Russell Vande Bunte officiating. Interment in Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery. Friends may call at the chapel.
