Facts and Events
You were asking me the type of work my father did in Toronto. He worked on the dredges when they built the cement breakwater down at the exhibition in Lake Ontario. My dad was what they call a Hoisting Engineer and he had his papers to do this job so he worked at Concrete Pipe Co after he worked on the dredges too. I think Grandpa Rice must have worked on the Dredges too because he was drowned off one of them before I was born or when I was very young. Dad tried to save Grandpa Rice when he fell overboard at the time but was unable to do so. I don't think Jimmy would know anything about dad because he was just a young kid . He knew Dad worked at Concrete Pipe. During the Depression dad sold vegetables off his truck to make money in order to feed the family. I don't know what he did in Grand Bank but I think he worked with fishing boats.. I trust this is what you want. Epworth United Church - Glace Bay,N.S.
