Listed as Postmaster for Silas, Choctaw County, Alabama on 6/24/1881. Prior to 1880 there were only 4 families in the area, one of which was the Shoemakers (Of our family line). I presume the Shoemakers ran the General store as family tradition says they would claim they were "Shoemakers in name and trade". Silas became the postmaster of the city.
