  11. He was remembered, in 1979, by Della (Sproul) Errington - a life-long resident of Stillwater, as an educated man who was helpful to his neighbors who lacked such skills. He was the official scale operator for weighing the loads of grain (probably at Brainerd Mill).
  12. Silas Porter purchased 82 acres from William Turner in the south half of Sec. 25, Twp 13, Range 7, bordered on the south by Stillwater Creek.
  13. Silas was "among the early members" of this church. It's first minister was Rev. Cook from Moorefield, Harrison County. \tab
  14. An Infirmary (Poor Farm) was started in Tuscarawas Co. in 1821. Silas served as its director from 1857 to 1860. In the 1860 elections of Tuscarawas County, he was defeated by Samuel Masters (Republican) by 21 votes.
  15. Silas had purchased 82 acres from William Turner on June 3, 1836. In 1852, Silas purchased another 34.5 acres. He sold all of his land to James Edie in February 1864 and migrated to Martin County, Indiana.
