OCCUPATION-ORGANIZATIONS: Baptist Minister from Mansville, CT came to Newport in 1759 (!) a year before it was organized, and started the Newport Baptist Church, at Scotch Village. This was only the second Baptist church established in Nova Scotia, the first being in Cumberland County. RESEARCHER: A picture of the gravestone of Rev. Dimock is in the Public Archives of Nova Scotia. When you search the on-line database at 'auls.acadiau.ca', you are told that he was of Mansfield, CT and Newport, NS and that he died "10 may 1781 in the 74th year of his age."Notes Family moved from Mansfield CT to Falmouth, Nova Scotia in 1759 because of religious persecution.
