Shirley Wirt Mispel

Shirley Wirt Mispel, 75, died June 15, 2003 of a cerebral blood clot at Iowa Methodist Medical Center. Memorial services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Westover Funeral Home, with burial of cremains at McDivitt Grove Cemetery in Urbandale.

Shirley was born in Panora, Iowa, and had lived in Des Moines, Fairfield, Iowa Falls and Adel before moving to Urbandale over 25 years ago. She was a homemaker and member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church. Shirley was a fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Chicago Cubs and enjoyed spending time with her little dog, Maggie.

She is survived by her daughter, Linda Musel of Huntington Beach, CA; three sisters, Ruby Becker of Spring Valley, CA, Juanita Putney of Indianola and Virgie Ravetz of Carlsbad, CA; two brothers, Gerald Wirt and Keith Wirt, both of Panora; and two grandsons, Nick Musel of Washington D.C. and Alex Musel of Bagdad, Iraq. Shes was preceded in death by her husband, Charles H. Mispel; brother, Ralph Wirt; and sister, Edna York.

Memorials may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, 1300 50th Street in West Des Moines.
