Found Drowned The body of an elderly woman was found floating in the Yarra near Abbotsford Convent yesterday. The corpse was first noticed by Mr John Croker, of Clifton Hill who was swimming a dog in the river and on his inforamtion Constable Gleeson recovered the boyd and removed it to the Morgue. (two lines missing) ???, with all the teeth missing byut one in each jaw. The dead woman was dressed in a three-quarter length Cashmere jacket, trimmed with lace, a black skirt, and a black velvet bodice. Nothing was found on the body to indicate the identity of the deceased.

- ↑ Selina was found drowned in the Yarra River ar Studley Park on the 25th of July 1899. The police report described her as "a woman about 65 years 5ft 3 high slight build thin face. Dressed in black cashmere jacket with silk lace trimming s black cashmere skirt and bodice striped cotton and white flannel petticoat an d underclothing black stockings and elastic side boots. Deceased had a gold wed ding ring on her finger" The official findings of the Proceedings before the coroners determined befor e jury of five that "Selina Jones came by her death, do say upon their oath (the Jury) that on the 25th July 1899 at Abbortsford Selina Jones was found drowned in the river Yarra, and there is no evidence to how she got into the water" At the coroners inquest her son-in-law stated that "She has been in a lunatic as ylum about a year ago" Her daughter Christina made the following statement at the Coroner's Inquest "The deceased Selina Wheeler was my mother. Deceased has been perculiar for some time past. I last saw her alive at 10.30pm on the 24th when she retired to her room. I missed her at 8.20am the next day. I found the door of the house open. She threatened a year ago to take her life. She had no injury to her head when she left home. She left 2 shillings behind her but no letter or note"

The Ship records show that Reuben was aged 38 and a labourer and the government paid a bounty of 19 pounds. Elizabeth was aged 37 and the government paid a bounty of 19 pounds. George was 5 and the government paid a bounty of 5 pounds. Seleina was 7.5 and the government paid a bounty of 10 pounds
