According to Elizabeth Ducoff, Sedora was orphaned near Jackson, in Scott County, Mississippi, "due to of the Civil War," and was brought to Texas in a wagon to what became Thorp Springs in Hood County, Texas, and was "adopted" by Joseph Clark, president of Add-Ran College at Thorp Springs.
