Final Rites Annouced for S. E. Wharton

    Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. tomorrow at Armstrong-Flickinger Mortuary Chapel for S. E. L. Wharton, 80, 2908 Dartmouth St., who died yesterday at a local hospital.  He was a pioneer farmer in the Weed Patch area.
    Dr. John S. Whiteneck of the First Congregational Church will officiate and interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
    Wharton was born September 15, 1875, in Henderson, Missouri, and was graduated from Pomona College in 1901.  He was active in football, baseball and track during his college days.
    He began farming near Weed Patch in 1917 and later took part in oil develpment.  He was a member of Rotary Club, the Elks Lodge and the Stockdale Golf and Country Club.
    Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Lydia M. Wharton; two sons, Charles M. and William J.; a daughter, Elizabeth Hannaman; a brother, Dr. Charles G. Wharton, Pasadena; two sisters, Minnie Wharton of Claremont and Florence Wharton of El Monte, and nine grandchildren.
    Pallbearers will be Harry Thompson, Robert Culliton, Harry Hake, Charles Wickersham, Don Hart and Bud Krauter, Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Blois, Lloyd Frick, Tom Hill and Robert F. Hackett.

Wharton, Seaborn--Funeral services will be held tomorrow at 10 a.m. in the Armstron-Flickinger Mortuary for Seaborn Wharton, 80, of 2908 Dartmouth, who died June 28, in a local hospital after a lengthy illness. The Rev. John S. Whitemeck, Jr. of the First Congregational Church will officiate and interment will follow in the Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. The Armstrong-Flickinger Mortuary is in charge of all arrangements and funeral services. Mr. Wharton was born September 15, 1875 in Henderson, Missouri, coming to California 66 years ago and lived in this community for the past 39 years. He was a farmer by occupation, retiring several years ago. He was a member of the BakRotary Club. Survivors include his widow Lydia M. Wharton of Bakersfield; two sons William J. Wharton of Bakersfield and Charles M. Wharton of Long Beach; a brother, Dr. Charles G. Wharton of Pasadena; two sisters Florence Wharton of El Monte and Winnie Wharton of Claremont; and nine grandchildren.
