Rites Schedule Tomorrow for Lydia Wharton Lydia M. Wharton, a second generation native California, died Tuesday in a Bakersfield rest home. She was born in Oakdale in 1880. Mrs. Wharton, the widow of S. E. L. Wharton, pioneer Weed Patch farmer, had been ill for some months. Funeral services have been scheduled for 2 p.m. tomorrow in the Armstrong Mortuary Chapel. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park with the Rev. John R. Whiteneck officiating. The mother of the deceased, Ida Jameson, was born in Colma during the California gold rush era. The S. E. L. Whartons settled in Weed Patch in 1917. Wharton retired in the early 1930's and moved to Bakersfield where he died in June of last year. His widow was active in the Bakersfield Women's Club and the Bakersfield Pro-American group until her health failed. Survivors include two sons, William J. Wharton of Bakersfield and Charles M. Wharton of Long Beach; a daughter Mrs. J. R. (Elizabeth) Hannaman of Long Beach; a sister, Mrs. Edna Bream of Fresno; a brother, Melvin Board of Santa Ana; and 10 grandchildren. Pallbearers will include Forrest Frick, Harry Thompson, Don Hart, L. B. Krauter and C. R. Hannaman.
