Mrs. Scholastika Ohnhaus, who was born and reared in Fort Wayne and who had resided here untill a few years ago since which time she had made her home with a son in Elkhart, died yesterday morning at the home of a niece, Mrs. Katherine Marks, 736 East Washington street. She came to Fort Wayne three months ago for a visit and her condition soon became such that she was unable to return. Death was due to paralysis and came at the age of seventy-seven years. Mrs. Ohnhaus was the widow of John E. Ohnhaus who died many years ago and as a teacher and organist at St. Mary's Church became well known in this city. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and a woman of excellent character possessed of a large circle of friends. Mrs. Ohnhaus' condition became serious several days ago and all of her children were at her bedside when she passed away. Surviving are three sons, F.J. Ohnhaus, of Kalamazoo; Louis Ohnhaus, of Fort Wayne, and John E. Ohnhaus of Elkhart. Two nieces, Mrs. Matilda Neidhart and Mrs. Katherine Marks, both of this city, also survive. One nephew, Frank Allgeier, of Fort Wayne, also survives. The deceased was a charter member of the Rosary society of St. Mary's church.
