A 1664 deed executed by Thomas Marshall refers to "Sarah wife of James Pemberton & Francis wife of Joseph How, daughters of my late deceased wife Alice Marshall, & to the confirmation of what my said late deceased wife hath given to her said daughters". Thomas and Alice married sometime after 1634 when Alice and her first husband joined the church in Boston and before 1637 when their first child was born.
