Hi Gary, Zylphia Elizabeth GRIFFIN was born in 1860 in Dale County, Alabama, USA. She married Alonzo L. WHIT EHEAD in 1875 in Dale County, Alabama, USA. Alonzo was born Jul 1854 in Dale County, Alabama, USA and died 28 Oct 1929 in Da le County, Alabama, USA. I am told by one of my aunts that they are both buried in Enterprise, Coffee County, Alabama, USA. I lived there as a child, but now live in Charleston, SC and haven't been back there in a few years. I have been in touch with some Whitehead researchers and no one seems to know who Alonzo's father was. Alonzo's mother was Sarah WHITEHEAD born about 1838 in Sumter County, Georgia, USA and died 08 Mar 1925 in Ariton, Dale County, Alabama, USA. About 1857, Sarah married Andrew Jackson PAYNE (1815-1880) and they had 8 children. Sarah's parents were James WHITEHEAD and Anna. Appearantly, Sarah had Alonzo out of wedlock because of her young age at his birth and the fact that she had an older sister who also had a son out of wedlock. Alonzo and Zylphia had the following children: 1. James Thomas WHITEHEAD born 28 Sep 1877 in Dale County, Alabama, USA. 2. William Albert WHITEHEAD born 29 Jun 1882 in Dale County, Alabama, USA. 3. Charlie Jackson WHITEHEAD born 02 Feb 1888 in Dale County, Alabama, USA. 4. Mamie P. WHITEHEAD born 15 Apr 1895 in Ariton, Dale County, Alabama, USA. 5. Minnie Lou WHITEHEAD born 24 Jan 1903 in Ariton, Dale County, Alabama, USA. Minnie Lou WHITEHEAD married Shelley Cuthbert WILSON. These are my grandparents. David Wilson
