    all the rest of my estate to be equally divided among all my children, except that if my daughter Martha should die without issue, her portion to be divided among the other children.

    Codicil, Oct. 13, 1783, witnesses Edward Herndon and John Mitchell, recites, "whereas since making the within will, my daughter Elizabeth Matilda has been born, she shall be considered and have an equal share in the division of my estate with my five younger children."
