p. 8, Rockford Morning Star, Sun., June 22, 1924 MRS. SARAH THAXTER DIES AT WINNEBAGO Mrs. Sarah Thaxter, widow of James Thaxter, died Fri. afternoon at 2:00 at the home where she had resided for more than half a century. She had been in ill a week with bronchitis. She was born Sept. 25, 1841, at Lawrenceburg, IN, the youngest child of James and Jane Langdale Smith, and was the last of a family of 10 children. She was married Feb. 19, 1885. Her husband died in 1907. She is survived by a niece, Miss Maria Smith, and 3 nephews, Fred H., J.Z., and Edward Smith. She was a member of the Congregational church and was a woman of sterling worth who was highly esteemed by all who knew her. Funeral services Mon. morning at 01:00 at the M.E. church here, the Rev. John Gordon officiating, Burial in Wbgp. Cem. (June 23: Rev. A. G. Adams assisting Rev. O. P. Jackson, of Forreston, SD; a quartet of Rev. Olin D. Jackson, Rev. Olin P. Jackson, Mrs. J. M. Sheilds, and MIss Clara Miller sang. Nephews Ray Lee, Cherry Valley, F. H. Smith of Rkfd., James, Edward, Roy and Wallace Smith were pall bearers.)
