From Savage's Genealogical Dictionary SIMMONS, SYMONS, SIMONES, or SYMONDSON, MOSES, Plymouth, one of the first comers, arr[ived] in the Fortune 1621, b[orn]. at Leyden, and bearing the Dutch name of Symonson or Simonson, but early shorten[ed]. his name to the first two syllab[les].; prob[ably]. bro[ugh]t. w[ife]. but no ch[ild]. is kn[own]. exc[ept]. Moses, and Thomas, wh[o]. may both have been b[orn]. here. He sett[led]. at Duxbury, was one of the orig[inal]. purch[asers]. of Dartmouth and prop[rietor]s. of Bridgewater, and of Middleborougb, but did not rem[ove]. to either. MOSES, Duxbury, s[on]. of the preced[ing]. or perhaps his gr[and].s[on]. for one of the name is ment[ioned]. wh[o]. may, however, have been s[on]. of Thomas; by w[ife].
