from david smith: The entry in the Smith Family Bible records the birth of Sarah Ann as September 12, 1793.

Sarah is possibly a daughter of the Thomas Ryan, shown in the 1783 census for Gunpower Upper Hundred of Baltimore County. The only other Ryan in that census was a Dennis Ryan in East Hundred. However, the following lead requires further research: The 1820 census for Green Township, Harrison County, Ohio, shows a Robert Smith family adjacent to the family of Rebecca Ryan. Since the first daughter of Robert and Sarah was Rebecca, this is possibly Sarah's mother, then a widow. Rebecca is shown in the 1810 census for Pipe Creek & North Hundred, Baltimore County, Maryland."
