In 1880 census, Ruth Newman ( Sarah A Ruth Newman) was living in Patrick, HOH, with remaining daughters Valenchtia, Mary A, Tempey and Effie. Nearby was Hiram Rogers b 1848 and his brother George B b. 1850, and wife Octava b1852. Also nearby were Armistead Newman, 66 years old, living alone, John S. Rogers 68 yo, Elizabeth Rogers, living with sister Adaline Gilbert, and Haman Newman, married to Ruth b 1840 Ruth s parents may have been William and Ruth Rogers , living in Dade Cty, Georgia in 1870. See census report; or her mother might have been Elizabeth Rogers, not "Ruth Rodgers" , which is what Winston informed the registrar after her death. I have noted before that either the registrar or informant might be confused, and the answer to "mother's maiden name" might just be the informant's mother's ( the deceased) rather than the deceased mother's maiden name....We see this.....
