!BIOGRAPHY: Fayette, the third son of Daniel Baker, was born December 31, l849. During his early life he, with his brothers, worked the large farm for their mother. On December 29, 1875, he married Sarah A. Rogers, daughter of Courtland Rogers of Malta. He bought the farm adjoining his mother's on the north and here were born their five children as follows: (1) Cornelia F., born November 8, 1876. (2) Courtland D., born January 15, 1879. (3 ) Winfield Scott, born June 1, 1880. (4) Leroy, born March 31, 1883. (5) Esther, born February 7, 1887. In 1912 Fayette sold the farm and moved to Mechanicville, where he died July 3,1918. He was much interested in the Baker Reunions and served Association Secretary for many years. Fayette's eldest child (1) Cornelia F., married Arthur L. Strang of Mechanicville. Arthur was president of the Mechanicville Knitting Company for several years previous to his death, which occurred on January 24, 1927. (2) Courtland D. married Bertha A. Hartson of Bolton, N. Y., on October 20, 1909. They operate a service station near Schenectady. (3) Winfield Scott and Ethel M. Howland were married on February 16, 1910. They live in Mechanicville, where he is a contractor and builder. They have one son, Winfield, H., who is a student in Middlebury College, Vermont. (4) J. Leroy lives with his mother in Mechanicville and is a contractor and builder. He never married. (5) Esther May married Robert C. Nash on September 17, 1908. For a few years they lived in Schenectady, where Robert was employed by the General Electric Co. as auditor. In 1922 they moved to Salt Lake City, Utah. They have two children, Cornelia Baker Nash, born December 9, 1916, and Charles Robert Nash, born September 5, 1921.
