MRS. S. H. PHILLIPS
The death occurred suddenly at her home in Railway Parade, Taree, on Wednesday night, June 9, of Mrs. Sarah Hannah Phillips, a, widely known and esteemed resident of the Manning River District. Deceased, who was 70 years of age, was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Relf, of Johnston's Creek, near Stroud.
She came to the Manning as a young woman, and 48 years ago married Mr. Frank Phillips at Lansdowne, where they resided on their farm. The late Mrs. Phillips was a kindly neighbour, and always ready to lend a helping hand to those, in need. About 24 years ago, she removed to Taree with her husband and family. Mrs. Phillips was a member of Chatham Church of England Women's Guild, giving her wholehearted support to wards raising funds for the building of the new Church Hall. She is survived by her husband and six children: Mr. H. L. Phillips (Lansdowne) Mrs. C . Bulley ( Tighe's Hill) , Mrs. L. Potts (Lansdowne), Mr. E. R. Phillips (Taree), Mrs. J. Everett (Adamstown) and Mrs E. Wynter (Taree). There are 17 grandchildren and one great grandchild. The funeral, took place on Friday morning at Landsowne cemetery following a service conducted by Rev. G. Roberts, assisted by. Rev. Walter Latham, an old friend of the family. Funeral arrangements were in the hands of Mr. W. T. Howard.
