- ↑ Royalston VRs, p. 35-36, list the baptisms on 20 May 1770 of 8 children attributed to Isaac and Mehitable Gale: Aaron, Cornelius, David, John, Judith, Lucy, Reuben, Sarah. These names do not match the names of the children of that couple as found in birth records, and there are too many for all to belong to one family. Checking for births in Royalston with these names, it is clear that all these baptisms belong to Cornelius and Elizabeth Putnam (except Sarah whose birth is not found).
Sarah's parentage is more ambiguous: the possibility that Isaac and Mehitable had one baptism that day but the two records were run together to create this mess. But it appears all the baptisms belong to Cornelius and Elizabeth. Considering the spacing of children in both families, Sarah falls in the middle of a 7 year gap between children of Cornelius and Elizabeth, but would be baptized only 7 months before another child is born in the family of Isaac and Mehitable (technically possible but unusual).
