1727-8 Jan'ry. 21. ... and Sarah Daught'r to Onesiphorus & Mary Pike [baptized]. "[The Town book gives the child's names as Mary, born Dec. 25, 1727.-Ed.]" [Note: see comment below.]
Source:Pike, Ruth G. Some Descendants of James Pike of Charlestown and Reading, Massachusetts, p. 88, gives the date of death as 21 Jan 1727-8, but the corresponding Weston record (as cited) appears to be a baptism. Furthermore, no death record is found. Instead of assuming the town record is correct and the church record incorrect and assuming a death that isn't recorded, it makes more sense to assume the church record is correct and the town record is incorrect, and that this child is then the Sarah Pike who married Leicester 1748/49 to Ephraim Amsden at the very appropriate age of 21, for whom no obvious candidate otherwise appears. This is speculative, however, as no direct evidence has been found.
