- ↑ Source:Gates, Robert Cady. Ancestors of Edna Frances Cady, p. 16, says Ephraim, s/o Ephraim Amsden and Sarah Pike, "b. about 1749 in Leicester; d. after 1815, Petersham (?); m. Betsey Wooodward in 1786." Only the marriage date seems grounded on an actual record, and that marriage in 1786 is awfully late for a man born about 1749 to be marrying. The probate of his father names Ephraim as the eldest son, but that does not mean he is the eldest child and Mary's birth suggests he is not. 1755 is a gap between siblings. The death about 1815 is probably based on Worcester deed Vol. 198, p. 102 but that deed is both dated and acknowledged December 1814, and Ephraim appears to still be living in Petersham in 1820 census (here, 12 up from bottom). No probate was found.
