Facts and Events
Several genealogical sources show Minor McQueen married to Sarah Abigail Athey. There is no documentation for this. It was what is called an "undefined assumption" by a previous researcher. A marriage record from Fauquier County, Virginia dated 6 Feb 1808 shows that Minor McQuin married Sally Norman. Sally was a common nickname for Sarah in that era, and persons recording marriages tended to use the "pet" name or "nickname" for the woman in those days. A later court record in Morrow County (Morrow County Death Records, 1856-1857, James L. Murphy, The Ohio State University Libraries) records the death of Anne Harred (also spelled Harrod), on 3-24-56, in Harmony Twp, of consumption, female, white, married, lived in Harmony Twp., born in Va., parents Minor McQueen and Sarah Norman. This person would have been born circa. 1812-1813, which is about the time Minor McQueen migrated from Virginia to Ohio. Also, Gideon McQueen's death certificate, although difficult to decipher, shows his mother's maiden name to be what looks like "Norman". |
