BIOGRAPHY: The National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution Volume 90 page 115 Mrs. May Reynolds Smith. DAR ID Number: 89351 Born in Factoryville, Pa. Wife of Bromley Smith. Descendant of Capt. Robert Reynolds, Corp. Lowery Chace, Abel Gardner, Nathan Potter, and Josiah Davis, as follows: 1. Martin Nelson Reynolds (1841-1902) m. 1865 Christine Capwell (b. 1843). 2. Beriah Reynolds (1812-63) m. 1839 Laura Baker (b. 1820); Abel Capwell (1809-91) m. Eliza Chace (1808-77). 3. Solomon Reynolds (1771-1852) m. 1792 Frances Northup (b. 1774); Paul Baker (d. 1832) m. Polly Davis; George Capwell m. 1803 Mary Gardner; Gorton Chace (1789-1839) m. 1806, Freelove Potter (1786-1859). 4. Robert Reynolds m. 1757 Eunice Waite (1735-1802); Josiah Davis m. 1st ?; Abel Gardner m. 1st Lucina ?; Nathan Potter m. 1778 Sarah Knight (b. 1757); Lowerey Chace m. 1780 Mary Wightman (1759-1843). Robert Reynolds (1736-1806) comanded the 1st company of trainband, 1781-82, of Exeter, R. I., where he was born. He died in Factoryville, Pa. Also No. 82300. [p.115] Lowery Chace served as corporal in Capt. Thomas Rice's company, Colonel Waterman's regiment, Rhode Island militia. He was born, 1759, in Rhode Island. Abel Gardner (1763-1840) enlisted, 1778, in Capt. Lemuel Wood's company. In 1818 he was a pensioner from New Ipswich, Hillsborough County, N. H. He died in Fitchburg, Mass. Nathan Potter (1757-1831) enlisted, 1775, in Capt. Thomas Holden's company, Col. J. M. Varnum's regiment, and served several other enlistments under different commands. He applied for a pension, 1836, and it was allowed. He was born in Rhode Island; died in Coventry, R. I. Josiah Davis (1758-1848) enlisted, 1778, in Capt. Martin Lord's company, Col. Sylvanus Graves' Connecticut regiment. He was buried in Franklin Forks, Pa. |
