Joseph Pearson m. (2) Newbury 1 Jan 1722-3 Sarah Hale. She m. (2) 30 Mar 1761 Deacon James Chute of Byfield and she d. 9 May 1762. Will of "Sarah Chewte, wife of Deacon James Chewte of Rowley", dated 4 May 1762, probated 31 May 1762, mentions "present Husband James Chewte", "son in Law Daniel Chewte and & Daughter in Law Ruth Searl", "son-in-law Capt John Pearson" [executor: son of Joseph Pearson by his first wife], "niece Hannah Little", "cousin John Frazier & Jesia Freazer sons of John Frazer", "grand daughter in law Judith Chewte".
- ↑ Newbury VRs give the birth of two Sarah Hales that could (within reasonable limits) be considered to match the age at death of Sarah Chute: Sarah, d/o Thomas Hale and Sarah Northend, b. 9 Mar 1692/93; and Sarah, d/o John Hale and Sarah Jacques, b. 3 Feb 1694/95. Since Source:Hale, Robert S. Thomas Hale, the Glover, of Newbury, Mass., 1635, and His Descendants (1877) does not give the will of either potential father, it is not clear how it determined it was the first who married James Pearson (and then James Chute). It is the marriage intention of the other Sarah (and John Weed) that is the key evidence, identifying that Sarah as the daughter of John.
