Sarah was in the Women's Army Corps in World War II, where she met Joseph Ellerby in Camp Blanding, FL. He was a veteran of the liberation of Dachau Prison. She earned a degree in Library Science from Simmons College, Boston, MA, and worked in New Jersey. Her last marriage, to Francis Dammers, a Dutch citizen she had met overseas, was a happy one in Morristown, NJ, where whe lived until her premature death of cancer.

Pauline Whittemore places her death in Jan 1978. The internet places the death date as FEB 1979.

Francis Dammers lived from 16 Aug 1906 to 4 Nov 1999.
