Mrs. Sarah Pitman - Sarah Elizabeth Cooper was born to Isaac and Mary Cooper, April 14, 1855. She united with the Baptist church at Cambridge City in 1894. She was married to George W. Pitman June 26, 1876, and to this union was born two children, Bessie and Jessie. They made their home at Cambridge City up until and a few years after the death of her husband on November 26, 1893. Having gone to Indianapolis in 1904 she and her daughter Jessie have made their home together. Moving her church membership there also, she at the time of her death was a member of the Emanuel Baptist church. During her last illness which has lasted for five years, she has been most patient, loving and kind, with a smile for every one, always showing that gentle christian spirit so much like the Master whom she tried to serve. She departed this life February 14, 1929, at the age of 73 years, 10 months, being the last of a family of seven children. She has gone to meet her dear husband and daughter Bessie who passed from this life February 10, 1910. She leaves to mourn their loss one daughter, Jessie Pitman, a grandson Donald P. Tomlinson, both of Indianapolis; and a host of other relatives and friends.
:Tho' death makes aches within the heart, Our great loss is heaven's gain. It seems hard that we should part, yet we'd not call her back to suffer pain.
Funeral services were held at Indianapolis Saturday afternoon, and also at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Willard Petro in Cambridge City Sunday afternoon. Burial at Riverside.
