↑ "Genealogy of the Fitts or Fitz Family" by James H. Fitts, in NEHGR, Vol. 22, p. 163 gives the birthdate as 14 Sep 1708 but names the parents as Ephraim and Lydia. In Salisbury VRs (p. 34), this birthdate belongs to parents George and Elizabeth, while the daughter of Ephraim and Lydia was born 3 Aug 1707. These records are on consecutive lines and the author appears to have taken the parents from one line and the birthdate on another. Which is right? The VRs are in agreement with the town copy, 1707 birth on p. 55, 1708 birth on p. 57; the originals are not available online, presumed to say the same. That Ephraim and Lydia are the parents is verified by the will of Ephraim Brown [Essex Probate 3550] dated 1751, which names "daughter Sarah the wife of Richard Fitts". So it is the birthdate named by the article that is wrong.
