Research Notes

Sarah's place of birth is inferred based on Joshua's proven residence in Prince William Co., VA in 1787. Schreiner-Yantis, and Love, Florence Speakman. The 1787 census of Virginia : an accounting of the name of every white male tithable over 21 years ...Springfield, VA: Genealogical Books in Print, 1987. Index found at (http://eservice.pwcgov.org/library/digitalLibrary/PDF/All People Index w source (8.28.14).pdf).

Her date of birth is inferred from her marriage bond. "Kentucky, County Marriages, 1797-1954," database with images, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:V5ZD-LQQ : 17 May 2018), Joshua Bird in entry for Seperate Hendrickson and Sally Bird, 30 Sep 1805; citing Marriage, Nelson, Kentucky, United States, district clerk, court clerk, county clerk and register offices from various counties; FHL microfilm 9,666. Joshua's permission implies she was under 21. Her marriage as the first of Joshua's children implies she was the eldest. Assuming she was 20 at the age of marriage, that places her birth in 1785 in Prince William, Virginia.

Dann Norton has carried out the most exhaustive research on Separate Hendrickson, in which he concludes that he and Sarah had four children and that Francis Bird was guardian to some or all of them after the death of Sarah. https://dannmnortongenealogy.wordpress.com/2018/09/26/twelve-no-thirteen-men-named-seperate/.

The 1810 Census for Nelson Co. lists two males and one female under 10 years of age in Separate Hendrickson's household, along with Separate and Sarah (indexed as "Sepa Handrick").
