Sarah Jane's sponsor (God Parent) was Ellen O'Neill, in 1901 there was an O'Neill family living two doors down from the family in Braithwait Street, it is possible that Ellen O'Neill was from that family. Sarah Jane died at the age of 13 from tubercular meningitis, she died in Cork Street Hospital.

Sarah is buried in Glasnevin Cemetery, she is buried in there with her grandfather Thomas Barrett, and her brother.
