  3. See the marriage record here, p. 106 reverse: "Jon'th Barit & Sarah Bardwell married [by] Mr. W'm Williams on May 19, 1713". It does not mention Hartford at all and the basis for saying "of Hartford" is unclear. Further, it also appears impossible, since the wife Sarah of Jonathan Barrett of Hartford d. 1780 aged 78, so born 1702, too late to marry in 1713, not to mention the conflicting marriage to his first wife Rebecca in 1714 (see TAG, Vol. 56, p. 135; also Source:Barbour, Lucius Barnes. Families of Early Hartford, Connecticut, p. 40 for Jonathan Banet). It seems more likely that the proper identification of her is Family:Jonathan Barrett and Sarah Unknown (1), this couple having children born in 1714 and 1716, and then the wife died and the husband remarried before 1719. However, this is purely circumstantial speculation. Since almost no information is given about Sarah, it is presumed she is placed in this family simply based on her name as given by the marriage record, that the Jonathan Barret of Hartford was the only one the authors were aware of, with the result that their presentation has misled people for years.
