Wife of John Ordway", dated 18 Jul 1766, proved 25 Feb 1767, mentions sons Richard and James Carr; "Five Daughters" [named] "Sarah the Wife of Joshua French", "Judith Hoyt Widow", "Elizabeth the Wife of Loot Colby", Rebecca Ordway Widow", and "Mary the Wife of Jonathan Straw" ; "Brother in law Ebenezer Kimball and Elisabeth his wife"; "Brother in law John Carr and Elisabeth his wife", "Dorothy the Wife of Jacob Mirick and Daughter of my Former Husband Richard Carr"; "Son James Carr ... with Son in Law Joshua French ... Executors". Accompanied by indenture dated 8 Dec 1742, "Between John Ordwa of South Hampton ... and Sarah Carr of Salisbury ... in Consideration of a marriage Intended and shortly to be solemnized".

Carr Family Records : Embacing (Sic) the Record of the First Families Who Settled in America and Their Descendants, with Many Branches, p. 50, identifies Sarah (Carr) French as the person who who married 1742 John Ordway, which is plainly wrong, as she would have signed the agreement as Sarah French, and she and her husband are explicitly named in her mother's will of 1766, which also identifies the mother as wife of John Ordway.S2
