SARAH W. CAMPBELL, COMMERCIAL ARTIST. Mrs. Sarah Wendell Campbell, former commercial artist and illustrator, died on Wednesday in Grand Central Hospital. She was 74 years old and lived at 645 Madison Avenue. Mrs. Campbell was stricken on a Madison Avenue bus after attending a meeting at the Third Church of Christ Scientist, Park Avenue and Sixty-third Street. She was the widow of Sanford Campbell. Mrs. Campbell was born in Saint John, N.B., and came to this country in 1906. In New York, she studied at the Chase School. She was known particularly for children's portraits, and had also illustrated children's books. She had exhibited at the Art Director's Club, the Society of Illustators and the National Academy of Design. Mrs. Campbell had also done art work for Scribner's and McCall's magazines, and for a number of commercial accounts. There are no known survivors.
