Obituary copied from Sanford's Find-a-Grave memorial page:
The death of Sanford Ballard, an aged and highly respected resident of Cooperstown, occurred at 8:15 o'clock Sunday morning at his home, No. 17 Rock street. Mr. Ballard had been in poor health for the past nine years but his final illness was of but a week's duration, death resulting from the infirmities of advanced years.
Mr. Ballard was the son of James and Mary Jane (Hawver) Ballard and was born at Cherry Valley March 20, 1854. He had been a resident of Cooperstown for the past forty years where a wide circle of friends will feel a keen sense of personal loss in his departure.
Mr. Ballard was united in marriage on Christmas Day fifty-six years ago with Miss Flora Jackson of Cooperstown and she survives together with three sons, Isum Ballard, Ellra J. Ballard and Harry J. Ballard, all of Cooperstown; a half-sister, Mrs. Philip Jones of Richfield Springs; two half-brothers, James H. Ballard of Cooperstown and Townsend Ballard of Amsterdam, and two grandchildren, Miss Hilda E. Ballard and Russell Ballard, both of this village.
The funeral was held from the late home Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, the Rev. Charles Kramer, pastor of the Universalist church, officiating, and burial was made in the cemetery at Maryland.
Otsego Farmer, Cooperstown NY, Fri. 13 Jan 1933
