Information from Fogleman Newsletter - August 2007 (http://www.lynnpdesign.com/foglemanreunion/Fogleman%20Newsletter%202007%20August.pdf): Sandra passed away at the home of her father in Nampa, following a long and courageous fight against cancer. She was reared and educated in Nampa and graduated from Nampa High School in 1976. Sandy's nursing career began as a candy striper at Mercy Hospital. She graduated from the University of Portland Nursing School in 1981. She worked in the pediatric intensive care unit and as a Life Flight Nurse at Emanuel Legacy Hospital in Portland, Ore., until her move to Bellevue, where she worked as an emergency room nurse at the Ketchum Hospital. In 2004, she was recognized by her peers and awarded the Carl Gray Memorial for nursing excellence. Sandra and Roger loved raising Bernese Mountain dogs, which Sandy trained for pet therapy to bring joy to patients. She also showed her dogs and participated with them in local parades. She loved taking her dogs to the schools and started the Reading With Dogs Program at Hailey. Sandy also loved horses and enjoyed riding them in the mountains of Idaho. In honor of Sandy's memory and love for animals, Dr. Dave McIrvin and his wife, Linda, founders of Sanctuary Camp, a new retreat for families of cancer patients in Emerald Mountain, Colo., have designed a special section for homeless animals trained in pet therapy to be known as the Sandy Buckle Pet Therapy Center |
