[Note Source:Ward, Andrew Henshaw. History of the Town of Shrewsbury, Massachusetts, p. 466: "A Samuel Wheelock d. here, according to the record, April 8, 1756; his age not stated, nor is he called Deacon. The late Deac. Gershom Wheelock, informed me, that 'Deac. Samuel Wheelock attained to a good old age, and that he believed he d. in this town.'" However, the probate file of Samuel Wheelock in 1756 shows that this death belongs to his son. The last mentioned event involving the father is 1729. On p. 183, it is stated that Isaac Stone became deacon in 1735 "in the room of [i.e., in the place of] Deacon Wheelock, 'distracted'". Probably his death was closer to this date.]
