1814, September 25, Portland, Province of Maine: Samuel Wardwell II drafted into service as a private in Capt. B. Bodwell's Company, and served until November 5, 1814 -Massachusetts Militia in the War of 1812, Militia Rosters by Regiment, Page 255 Pension #WC-30171

He lived on his father's old place and was killed by falling off a load of hay and sticking a pitchfork in his neck, so he bled to death. He lived in Stoneham, ME when first married and his first three children were born there. March 20, 1827 his father deeded to him "all of lot 15 range 3 not conveyed to Wm. Wardwell, being about 70 acres reserving the right, for my daughters Polly and Hannah to have a home in the dwelling house as long as they remain single" -History of Otisfield, Cumberland, Maine from the original grant to the close of the year 1944, Oxford, Me, William Samuel Spurr, 1953
