Samuel William Donaldson Walker came to Hunt, Texas from Pleasant Hill, Missouri after his first wife died. He is listed as a widower in the 1880 census[2]. (The ages in that document are accidentally switched with James Peak). This is known by his neighbor Hattie A Peak, who can also be found in the Pleasant Hill 1870 census.[3]

His middle name Donaldson likely comes from William Donaldson, a neighbor of his grandfather Samuel Walker in Hampshire, West Virginia.
