Attended Central College in Missouri. In the early 1890's he went to Eden, Concho County, Texas. He taught in the public schools for 27 years and was the principal of all the schools.

     Samuel and Nancy Jane had 9 children, the first two died in infancy.

Note from Louise Conner: "Samuel was deaf and had been unable to work. A school near Harlington, Texas was in dire need of an authorative teacher and principal. This family lived in Duncanville, Texas, Greer County, Oklahoma by 1903 and the Rio Valley, Texas.
